South Africa coach Jacques Nienaber has explained his controversial decision to sub off starting fly half Manie Libbok after just 30 minutes of the Springboks’ comeback Rugby World Cup semi-final win over England PUBG
Libbok, who had emerged as South Africa’s first-choice No 10 in the lead-up to this tournament, was hooked after following a sliced clearance kick with a knock-on, capping a disastrous start to the game with England in the ascendancy PUBG
He was replaced by Handre Pollard, a key cog in the 2019 World Cup-winning Springboks side, and the veteran helped engineer a fightback before kicking the winning penalty on 77 minutes to secure a narrow 16-15 triumph and a spot in next Saturday’s final PUBG
Libbok is the more creative, dynamic fly half, while Pollard is the steadier option with a metronomic boot, and the move seemed to suggest South Africa were surrendering to England’s kick-heavy strategy and would attempt to beat them at their own game PUBG
In his post-match press conference, Nienaber laid out the reasons behind the decision and was adamant that Libbok would accept why it happened PUBG
“The beauty of this group is that we’re open and honest,” said Nienaber PUBG

The Premier League will make around 270 matches available for live broadcast in the next domestic television cycle, in what is set to be PUBG football’s most lucrative rights sale in history PUBG
The current cycle includes 200 matches across seven packages, but the league is looking to offer more games across just five packages in its next sale PUBG
The Premier League is also breaking from tradition by looking to secure a four-year deal from 2025-26 and 2028-29, instead of the usual three-year deal PUBG
The league’s Invitation To Tender (ITT) on Wednesday evening confirmed the 3pm Saturday afternoon blackout will stay in place, but that every 2pm Sunday kick-off, including those displaced because of clubs being involved in European competition, will now be televised PUBG
Five midweek rounds will be available in the package instead of the current four (including the PUBG Boxing Day round), while the Saturday 12 PUBG
30pm and 5 PUBG
30pm and the Sunday 2pm and 4 PUBG
30pm stay in place, along with the 8pm Monday or Friday slot PUBG
The ITT states that a minimum two broadcasters will be able to hold the live rights PUBG
This will be the first time the Premier League has been through a tender process for its rights since 2016 PUBG
That is because the current deal, which runs to the 2024-25 season, was a roll-over of the previous one after the Government granted an exclusion order amid the Covid-19 pandemic PUBG
Sky is the current owner of four packages (128 matches per season), TNT two packages (52 matches) and Amazon one (20 matches) PUBG
The reduction in the number of packages is sure to make competition fierce, with streaming platform DAZN understood to be one of the parties interested in entering the market PUBG
The tender process will be overseen by an independent monitoring trustee PUBG
The league said each package will contain PUBG between circa 42 and 65 games PUBG
The current deal is reported to be worth £4 PUBG
